Time to prioritize Digital Accessibility

Do you sell digital products and services on your website? Such as tickets, courses, or training programs? According to European regulations, all e-commerce websites in the Netherlands must be accessible to everyone starting from July 2025.

This is essential to ensure that people with disabilities – whether visual, auditory, or otherwise – can also understand your content.
The time to take action is now. Fortunately, we can help.

European Accessibility Act
Digital accessibility is a hot topic for a reason: in the Netherlands, approximately 4.5 million people have some form of disability. These range from visual impairments to low literacy levels. For these individuals, using your digital products and services can be challenging. Tasks like purchasing a ticket or signing up for a course or training program become unnecessarily complicated.

The European Accessibility Act aims to change this through web accessibility guidelines. This legislation will be implemented in the Netherlands in 2024, with enforcement starting on June 28, 2025.

While the final version has yet to be published and many details remain unclear, the new regulations will be based on the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines, which have already applied to government institutions since 2020.

Seize the opportunity!
Being accessible to everyone also means that more people can purchase your products. Expanding your reach within your target audience increases the likelihood of conversions.
Curious about how accessible your website is right now? You can check this on the website of Accessibility Checker.

Need help?
No problem! At Eagerly, we are prepared for the European Accessibility Act. Using the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines (on which the new legislation is based), we conduct an analysis and prepare a report about your website.
This report includes an estimate of the necessary changes to your website. We’ll create a detailed plan of action to work with our team toward an accessible web design and also address the technical aspects. As a client, you’ll also receive a handy WCAG 2.1 checklist to make your content as accessible as possible.
